This morning, ML and I were awakened by our wild animal living in our apartment walls again. However, this time it was screeching! I thought for sure that the possums had been caught. Our animal trap guy came over today, eager to take the critters away…only to find out that the possums were NOT caught. Dear go, I hope that screeching doesn’t mean that they are breeding! DAMN IT! The good news is that Luna and I are sort of getting used to the critter noises…although I’m not sure that is a good thing…hmmm. I guess it’s good for our sleep;).

I really haven’t had much to report. ML and I have been fairly busy. We do miss living with Fred this winter. He always seemed to inspire me to write about good stuff. He gave me a great TEXAS perspective.

I ran the 3M half-marathon this weekend. I ran 1:21 and change…about 6 seconds slower than last year….grrr. Admittedly, I was a bit disappointed. Last year, I wasn’t in very good race shape and I ran 1:21. This year, I am running much better than I have in a while, and I have a lot more confidence in my current level of fitness. I’ve been working very hard to get back down to my 1:16pr. While I realize I’m no where near those sorts of times right now, I am definitely in shape to run 1:19 or 1:20. I would have been happy even if I broke 1:21. However, sometimes you just don’t get what you want out of a race, and this was one of those disappointing days! Ah well, I know that not everything goes the way you want it to all of the time…

I did a few silly things this week that I would NEVER do if I was getting ready for a key race. (For example: running my quarter miles on the track 15 sec faster than cliff told me to do, on Wednesday; therefore I had sore-to-the-touch calves…oops). I kept on telling myself that I didn’t care and that this was only a run race.

It’s really silly…because, the fact of the matter is that I was pissed at myself after the race. After it was over, I realized that I did care. I really cared at mile 12.5 when I was passed by a couple of girls and I couldn’t get on my toes to sprint finish because my calves felt like they were going to break off my legs…yep, sometimes, you have to learn the hard way…

Our good friend, Fee, was in town this weekend. She also ran the 3M half. Fiona is taking a year off from racing triathlon to really give her running career a “go”. In her first open half-marathon, she ran 1:15 and change…not too shabby…shit it’s fast!!! Even with a super-fast time like that, she was ninth place. The winner went 1:11! That time really shows the sort of talent that the 3M brings to Austin.

We really enjoyed showing Fee around this past weekend and we really loved catching up with her. Not only is she a super freaky-fast runner, but she is a wonderful friend as well! She has been taking care of Casa Lovato in Boulder, which includes taking care of Mr. Frisco too!

We really have been missing our cat, Frisco. However, we think of him every day, as he left us a reminder of himself on my fluff momma ugg boots. Yes, Frisco is a naughty pussy…but we still love him.
