Well as much as I like to make fun of others for making stupid mistakes, I am pretty good at making fun of myself when I do dumb shit.

Today is a great example of not paying attention and making silly mistakes…

Apparently I read my run session wrong and decided to do my ten miles of intervals on the track. This might have been OK and fine if I hadn’t decided to wear brand new racing flats today. I usually don’t have a shoe problem. In fact, I’ve been wearing NIKE’s since I was 14 years old and they have never failed me…except today. Apparently the LUNARtrainer runs a half size too small. While the shoes felt amazing and absolutely PERFECT on the first set, I started to realize the size problem on my 3rd interval. Despite the irratation, I decided to finish the interval in the new shoes (once again, bad decision). My thought was that I would assess the damage before the 4th one and then switch the shoes out to my heavier trainers. The bottoms of my feet were pinched so badly that my feet were bleeding and getting raw…no bueno. (Notice my Spanish. I am, after all, in TX:)). The damage was done and every step just burned. I kept telling myself: “toughen-up buttercup”!. I finished it, but with a sore left glute and raw feet. ML was there, supervising. He suggested that I should eat something and get over the raw feet….Haha. I love ML’s advice: when in question, eat something:)! After all, it was a fairly long run and I had eaten a few hours prior. I ran along to Jack and Adams, where I had a gel and two bars. Usually if I do that before I run, my stomach gets a bit sick. Today, It seemed OK (i must have needed it)…until I finished. Since 1pm, I have been farting FIRE. I swear it was that “natural” ENERVITE bar…yikes.

ML and I are fairly settled. We are staying in a sweet little apartment pretty close to town. It was a no brainer when ML realized that our land lord is a girl that he taught AP Spanish to in High School. (Luckily we got a DEAL!) The apartment is in a great location in regards to the pool and the running. I really love the running and swimming here in Austin. With Barton Springs, the UT masters program, and town lake, it’s hard to beat!

I would say that our apartment has a lot of “character”. We made the deal to live how we did when we were in college. That way, we would not be tempted to spend any more money than we had to. However, what we have come to realize is that ML and I lived quite differently from each other when we were in college. I lived “cute” and “comfortable”. I enjoyed modern conveniences such as air conditioning and heat. Shoot, I even had a tv with cable! haha! ML, on the other hand, never had AC (He went to UT and lived in Austin during the summer!). I think that he even grocery shopped at the Salvation Army.

Realizing these facts about ML, we have come to an understanding…
Luckily we didn’t have to discuss our food shopping, ML now understands what good food can do for you.
While we do have lawn chairs in our living area, ML was willing to buy a futon at the Salvation Army. ML is now sitting in one of the lawn chairs while I am on the futon with the dogs. I am now starting to push for a mini-tv…wish me luck:).
