Great Race Report Amanda! I didn't know that wasn't in the plan for you but you executed beautifully and you are right - Lubbock is a great race. Good people, clean and just plain fun! Good seeing you! I just contacted the Kristin at Betty Designs to work on a Ballou Skies uniform for the two ladies on our team. Very excited that it might work out! Hope your training is going so well.. God Bless.. Kim

Thank you for your kind words Angela!
I think that the REV3 course is awesome. The swim is "fairly" easy. However, the hills on the bike and the run make the course extremely challenging! I love that race and plan on being there agin next year!

I personally am in favor of the new 8%. If a pro cannot finish within 20 minutes of the winner in a 70.3 race I don't think they deserve to get paid. One of the reasons why I think they implemented the rule was so that AG athletes are not placing ahead of pros who are taking home paychecks. Sure there could still be a few AG that place ahead of pros but by having a time cap to the winner it will reduce the number.
I feel bad for someone like Erin, but there are many competitive pros who place within 9 minutes of the winner in 70.3 race. Like Erin they don't take home a paychecks and don't have sponsors paying for there travel.

Hi Amanda, I saw you and your husband at Rev3 Half in CT. I have followed you for a while and was happy to see you guys there. I heard Michael speak at Timberman several years ago (followed T. Bozzone and made us LAUGH {he may remember that speech by TB.ask} and I've cheered for him at the races every since. Anyway....I am curious to hear what you and the other Pros thought of that course. I found it to be a Bear!! I'd love to hear about your experience there. thanks, Ange

great info! as sport evolve things change-some for the betterment, sometimes they're not so good, and the overall intent is lost. If this is just a WTC rule, then maybe other events will bring in more pros???

Nice one Amanda,

"Triathlon isn't golf"

Yeah, and even the guys 8% off of Tiger (in strokes) still get paid more than the first place finisher at MOST triathlons. (In fact, I think bowlers roll for more in prize money).

Such rules will not allow for new talent to develop from a sustainable financial perspective. Young pros had better storm the scene right from the start of their careers or else they may never develop the supportive sponsors to mellow the financial sting of a bad race.

Very well said. I agree with everything you wrote and as a first year pro I'm sure this rule will affect me as well. And "triathlon isn't golf" - isn't that the truth!
