• Timberman Triathlon Race Announcement

The bookend to the season will be the 5th running of the TIMBERMAN TRIATHLON FESTIVAL, August 19-21. We’re really excited to announce a major improvement to the race. We’re moving the expo, registration, pasta dinners, etc to Gunstock Recreation Area. This is a beautiful mountain spot and ski area, just 5 minutes from the Ellacoya State Park race site. This is what New Hampshire’s all about…Mountains, views, nature…and 2000 triathletes. We’ll have virtually unlimited camping available, entertainment, a bonfire band party with Chicken Barbeque Sunday Evening, kayaking, horseback riding, vendors, clinics, and food. It’s like Wildflower, but with better facilities. In addition, there will now be a youth Triathlon entirely on the Gunstock Grounds on Saturday afternoon. It’ll be the place to be when you’re not racing. They have tent sites as well as RV sites available at very reasonable prices, and it’s a great spot for the whole family. In addition, all athletes and spectators will be able to utilize the bus shuttle on Sunday to and from Ellacoya and Gunstock. Stay at Gunstock, have a stress-free ride into Ellacoya on race morning.

We’re also thrilled to announce the return of Defending Champion and course record holder Michael Lovato and Three-Time Ironman World Champion Peter Reid. The matchup we were anticipating last year fell through after Peter was forced to withdraw after an injury. This year, we’re expecting big things! They’ve both graciously offered to host the Ironman Dinner on Friday night, which will give you all the opportunity to listen to them, ask questions, and get some pics. A great night is planned!

On the women’s front, Amanda Gillam has confirmed her participation. We’re looking forward to a great women’s field to join her! On another note, a big Congrats to Michael Lovato and Amanda, as they were recently married!

We’re also working with USAT to add the Aquabike division to Timberman Half Iron. It will entail the swim and bike portions of the race. For those of you who are injured, don’t run, or don’t want to, here’s another option for you to still be a part of Timberman.
